Some kids have all the luck

Parentalstyle is all in favour of those creative and stylish parents that can bring their grown up practical design ethos and translate it into super cool style for their kids bedrooms.

Currently looking at inspiration for Squeak’s bedroom, all though not quite sure she is going to be as lucky as some of the kids in these research images. I love clean and clever design that means there is a carefully thought out plan that allows everything to have it’s place and ideally for me can be put away quickly and leave a room looking considered as opposed to a bomb site, which in a child’s room is tricky.

Here are some design minded parents that seem to have it down.

Juicy Couture unveils the Malibu collection

Image

March sees the launch of Juicy Couture’s new fragrance range, Juicy Couture Malibu, featuring two new, brighter interpretations of the Juicy Couture and Couture La La fragrances.

Juicy Couture Malibu combines top notes of pink passion fruit, watermelon and green apple with mid notes of wild rose and jasmine on a musky wood base. Couture La La Malibu fuses mandarin and red currant notes with wet flower petals, mid notes of white peony and a base of white musk and sweet pink sugar.

The scents are packaged in bottles bearing oversized pink and orange lucite heart charms and decorated with palm trees. Available in Eau de Toilette (£63 for 150ml; £47 for 75ml), EDT Rollerball Duo (£9.99) as well as an Eau de Toilette (£34 for 40ml) exclusive to Boots. The collection will be available at Boots (40ml only), Selfridges, Debenhams, The Perfume Shop and The Fragrance Shop.

Back to nursery with Barbour

Today Squeak went back to nursery. For the occasion the weather typically was drizzly with a definite chill in the air after our body temperatures had become rather use to the high twenties.

Squeak was in need of a fit for purpose kind of coat, a coat that without doubt would keep her snug and warm as the Winter settles in. As a family who are into their heritage fashion brands we have Barbour to thank for the perfect silhouette , stylish, iconic and functionable. We (Squeak has a say in her wardrobe now) decided on the Winter Force Parka Jacket with it’s classic lines and traditional olive waxed finish. Squeak is particularly fond of the woolly fleece lining which is also in the hood.

Also with Barbour’s excellent customer service comprising bespoke repairs and re-proofing this is the perfect coat for passing down to siblings, and with all Barbours they get better with age.

Here are a few snaps of our journey this morning…Back to nursery with Barbour.

If you visit the Barbour website you will find some fabulous knitwear pieces that will ensure toastie children for the whole chilly season. Here are some of my personal favourites.

Squeak’s Fashion Week

It’s no surprise really that Squeak is beginning to take an interest in her clothes with a mother and father working in the fashion industry who constantly talk ‘fashion’. Some may think wow that must be a shallow existence but for us it’s a way of life. We constantly point out people on the street, on a train and whisper to each other, those shoes are cool. We love the history, the culture, the trends, the catwalks, the designs, the fabrics, the people, the parties, sorry correction we use to love the parties, the colours, the creativity, the industry. It would be fair to say it’s a genuine passion of ours.

As with most parents of two and three quarter year old daughters, we tend to buy and dress Squeak in things that are a reflection of our own personal tastes mixed with things she just looks super super cute in, which to be fair is most things, but of course that’s a mother’s biased and granted opinion.

So probably for my own selfish enjoyment I have created Squeak’s Fashion Week, seven days seven outfits and a little dressing up creation as her finale. Love her so much.

New accessory alert….welcome to Janvier London

If like me you have a self confessed bag addiction then these little bundles of joy are going to make you very happy.

New to the scene is Janvier a London based premium accessories house with an emphasis on luxurious statement pieces. Now I have your attention.

Inspired by 1970s Las Vegas and 1980s Rodeo Drive, JANVIER is audaciously opulent, daringly bold, and unabashedly luxe. Combining cutting-edge contemporary design with timeless glamour, all JANVIER accessories are made in England, using premium materials including silk, cashmere, nappa leather and gold in a rich array of colours and textures.

Launched in July 2013, JANVIER will introduce an extensive range of exclusive bags, clutches, wallets, and sunglasses in forthcoming seasons.

I was lucky enough to attend the press launch dinner and it would be fair to say that everyone around the rather glamorous fashion table were over joyed by this new little arrival.

Bags are priced from £339 – £399 and available from Janvierlondon.com

How to wear a beret

Dress up Friday looks towards the exquisite face of Faye Dunaway. Don’t feel like I need to write too much as her features say it all.

Actress Faye Dunaway was born on January 14, 1941, in Bascom, Florida. She worked onstage before moving to the big screen and starring in the pioneering film Bonnie and Clyde, for which she received an Oscar nomination. She’s appeared in several iconic films throughout her career, including The Thomas Crown Affair and Chinatown. She won an Academy Award in 1976 for her role in Network.
