Some kids have all the luck

Parentalstyle is all in favour of those creative and stylish parents that can bring their grown up practical design ethos and translate it into super cool style for their kids bedrooms.

Currently looking at inspiration for Squeak’s bedroom, all though not quite sure she is going to be as lucky as some of the kids in these research images. I love clean and clever design that means there is a carefully thought out plan that allows everything to have it’s place and ideally for me can be put away quickly and leave a room looking considered as opposed to a bomb site, which in a child’s room is tricky.

Here are some design minded parents that seem to have it down.

Juicy Couture unveils the Malibu collection

March sees the launch of Juicy Couture’s new fragrance range, Juicy Couture Malibu, featuring two new, brighter interpretations of the Juicy Couture and Couture La La fragrances.

Juicy Couture Malibu combines top notes of pink passion fruit, watermelon and green apple with mid notes of wild rose and jasmine on a musky wood base. Couture La La Malibu fuses mandarin and red currant notes with wet flower petals, mid notes of white peony and a base of white musk and sweet pink sugar.

The scents are packaged in bottles bearing oversized pink and orange lucite heart charms and decorated with palm trees. Available in Eau de Toilette (£63 for 150ml; £47 for 75ml), EDT Rollerball Duo (£9.99) as well as an Eau de Toilette (£34 for 40ml) exclusive to Boots. The collection will be available at Boots (40ml only), Selfridges, Debenhams, The Perfume Shop and The Fragrance Shop.

Glowing from the inside

Protein World lauches The Glow Collection

Today sees the launch of fitness and nutritional supplement brand Protein World’s new beauty supplement The Glow Collection. The line is designed to help nourish hair, skin and nails and contains antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and protein. The collection comprises of: Luminous Capsules (£20) containing milk thistle and biotin to promote healthy hair, skin and nails; Brilliance Capsules (£18), an eye brightening formula with carotid vitamin lutein to support eye health; and The Slender Blend (£30), a protein shake containing whey protein to provide energy and raspberry ketone to offer skin elasticity. The collection retails at £64 and is available online, accompanied by a guide on how and when to take the supplements to the best effect with recipe and meal suggestions.

GUCCI bags……for kids

Now don’t get me wrong, I love a designer bag as much as the next mum but the thought of my child using one to carry Ariel the mermaid, half eaten rice cakes and Squeaks latest obsession of holding stones in her hands makes me feel a little nervous.

Starting at £300 I’m not sure I would be over keen on her putting it over the handle bars of her pink scooter and scooting off down the street. I guess I don’t live in the right city, I’m sure in the glamorous hills of Hollywood this kind of children’s status symbol is a very common sight. As fashion designed objects it’s not that I don’t like the look of them but I can’t help remembering how beautifully innocent my school/gym bags were that my mum use to hand sew for me and yes my name was embroidered in it.

If you are looking for a new school, gym or weekend bag for your little ‘princess’ then check out GUCCI they look as good as the grown up versions. Although the frog is my personal favourite, at least it represents some kind of design fun for kids.

Craving Culottes

Parentalstyle has a New Year resolution and that is to commit to wearing the culotte. Oh and I must stop eating family size bars of chocolate (note to self). The new bottom option for your wardrobe has been seen from the big guns on the catwalk and now as always can be found in many high-street retailers.

A quick history lesson into the trouser meets skirt garment: Culottes is a word that originated in the French language. Historically, “culottes” referred to the knee-breeches commonly worn by gentlemen of the European upper-classes from the late Middle Ages or the Renaissance through the early nineteenth century.

I have already purchased two pairs of culottes and was lucky enough to adopt the fashion trend a couple of months ago from the DVF sale. I went for a classic black pair and then a more fashion forward emerald green. Looks great with knee-high boots, ankle boots and heels of all heights. Also looking forward to wearing with sun kissed legs and sandals as soon as the British weather will allow.

To help convince you I have sourced some great options and inspiration images to encourage a genuine craving for culottes too. Go on, give them chance.

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark circle minimizer launches

With the festive season taking a toll on my eyes and Squeak not being very sympathetic to a champagne hangover this product could not have come along at a better time. The only issue is I have to wait to the 26th to get my hands on it. I do use quite a lot of Origins products and often feel the benefits, so I’m really hoping the blurb on this little pot of joy does deliver.

Harvard-trained medical doctor and botanist Andrew Weil has teamed up with skincare brand Origins to create Mega-Bright Dark circle minimizer, designed to target dark circles and brighten the eye area. Rosa Roxburghii, white peony and grapefruit work to treat inflammatory discolouration and brighten skin, while optical diffusers neutralise under eye darkness and illuminate skin. Centella Asiatica and magnolia extract tighten and strengthen skin.

Priced at £32, Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark circle minimizer launches December 26th.
