Diggin’ Dungarees

All those that keep a keen eye on fashion trends you will be already up to speed on the ‘Dungaree movement’ in the fashion world.

I’ve have accumulated two pairs so far one in a dark navy cord purchased from Anthropolgie ( bargain sale purchase) and the other curtesy of ‘H’ (husband) a fabulous Levi pair although new the denim experts have got the wash just perfect, worn and battered.

The thing is I can understand some peoples reservations and the whole ‘hillbilly’ connotations but styled with conviction these all time classics can truly give you a whole new outfit to feel good in.

They can also work for the whole family, OK maybe mum and child may have the upper hand on this one. Dad’s can unfortunately  end up looking like a rather famous trailer park serial killer. Probably not advisable for daddy’s weekend look.

Feeling Ruffled

My feathers are feeling ruffled by ruffles. Over the last few days the International Fashion Weeks are seeing ruffles walking down the catwalk adding a lovely touch of romance to many collections.

Ruffles can around a neckline or generally speaking on your top half work easier in a day to day wardrobe. Be wary that too many ruffles especially around hip and bottom area as they may not always be that flattering if mother nature missed you out when handing giving that tall willow gene.

Also too may ruffles in pretty pastels can reminisce of over done wedding outfits, add a feather fascinator and there is strong whiff of a garden marquee and prawn vol au vents.

But aside from my little warnings if you are a busy mum looking for a quick and effective new blouse to update your favourite jeans for the Spring Summer season then definitely seek out a blouse that has a few ruffles. Unfortunately, as of yet I have not found a good version on the high-street but when I do I of course will pass this on. What I’m finding with the high-street attempts at this trend is trying to save money on fabric costs is only allowing for small mean looking ruffles and I’m looking for more romance and billowing. So high-street stop, more fabric please.

For this trend post I have looked towards vintage, as I do with most things, for my personal inspiration board.

The Red shoes

I’ve always had a sweet soft spot for red shoes and take it from me they work with more outfits then you probably think. Denim is an obvious choice but try with navy, white and black but also works lovely with the other primary colours.

This fabulous pair of open toe ankle boots from Maison Martin Margiela would be a wonderful addition to my/your wardrobe and would stylishly do the trick from thick black opaque Winter tights to Spring time bare legs. If you fancy a splurge visit Matches to make a purchase. Although the £510 price tag may seem a little extravagant on a pair of red shoes as you might well think black would be more of a sensible buy. But who wants sensible, we are talking fashion here.
