The beauty of Moths

Image

An enchanting collection of beautiful moths have landed in-store at Thor & Wistle.

The beautiful jewellery pieces are part of a limited edition collection, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Traditional and modern techniques are used. Marquetry, which is the art and craft of applying pieces of veneer to a structure to form decorative patterns, along with the precision of laser cutting allow for placing Piexi-glas and iridescent Mother of Pearl into very fine engraved lines, thus creating an exquisite art deco feel.

Thor & Wistle is a collaborative project between, Kamilla Thorsen and Rachel Entwistle of Dynasty and Rachel Entwistle Jewellery. The design and making is carried out in the studio. The duo also work with other UK designers to collaborate and showcase the best of emerging design talent. The brands pay homage to natural history, entomology, symbolism and mythology. Thor & Wistle have a boutique atelier and concept store just of the hip and happening Redchurch Street of East London, which happens to be next to my favourite coffee shop Allpress, very handy.

Apparently there are 160,000 species of moths, therefore the inspiration behind this collection could run for quite some time. Price range £65 to £225
